My journey as a health coach began several years ago, when I moved to the south of France with my family and took a break in my career as a senior finance executive. The opportunity to replace amalgam fillings arose, and she took advantage of it. The procedure left me feeling extremely tired and weak. My dentist was worried that these might be symptoms of mercury poisoning and I discovered that, because he had simply assumed I wasn’t sensitive to mercury, he hadn’t followed the strict protocol for removing amalgam safely. This discovery led to a period of research into what damage had been caused to my body, resulting in a long and painful heavy-metal detox that caused a wide-ranging and unpleasant side effects. My constant anxiety over the long-term health implications led to insomnia and an overwhelming sense of losing control. Combined with the stress of relocating my young children and struggling to communicate as I learned French, this left me at an all-time low. Taking control I found my first key to recovery in an unread copy of Gretchen Rubin’s “The Happiness Project”. Her description of sleep as “a key to happiness and energy motivated me to get more sleep myself and, as I learned to rest my body, my energy and vitality began to return. Everything suddenly became clear. I was determined to take control of my health and learn how to heal and protect my body. So I did what I love and do best; I began to study. I started studying medicinal nutrition, beginning with the ancient principles of Maimonides, the 12th-Century Jewish physician. I was surprised at how many factors that we are often unaware of affect our health profoundly, and this inspired me to deepen my studies in the field of nutrition. Changing direction After researching my options carefully, I joined New York's Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN), where my training as a health coach gave me insight into a variety of dietary theories. I learned that there’s no “one-size-fits-all” diet because we all have specific needs for our own health. And I learned to trust my body to guide me to foods that are best for me. Achieving your goals My mission is to share my learning, to provide you with the knowledge and skills to make choices that optimize your own health easily and enjoyably. My programs are based on four key elements for great health and provide you with essential information from the world’s leading experts. They are designed to help you identify your own specific needs and goals, giving you practical tools and resources to achieve the results you want. As my studies progressed, I realized that taking care of ourselves is much more than changing our diets and comprises key habits that include exercising, relaxing our body and mind, and focusing on the positive in every aspect of our lives.
